Taco Seasoning

Taco Seasoning | www.shariblogs.com

I don’t know about you, but sometimes the smallest things seem like a big success.  Making my own Taco Seasoning is one of those. It is so easy to make and usually you have everything you need already in your spice cabinet.  Plus, you have the HUGE benefit of not eating all those preservative ingredients that you can’t pronounce in the prepackaged stuff.

It’s Monday and a super busy one at that, so I am not going to do a bunch of chit chatting on this post.  I do want to go ahead and tell you to get ready because this is shaping up to be a Mexican theme week.  I was scheduling my posts in my Blog Planner and realized that I have quite a few Mexican ones to share.  I told you we loved it around here!

Print this recipe, go to your spice cabinet and get all these out and make this!  I promise you will be glad you did. So easy and so tasty too!

Taco Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 3 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  1. In a small bowl, mix together all of the ingredients. Store in an airtight container. This makes approx. 5½ tablespoons.
  2. To use: Use about 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning for every 1 pound of meat. You can adjust this to your liking. Brown your ground beef and drain off the fat. Add your taco seasoning along with ¾ cups of water to your ground beef. Simmer and stir until water is absorbed.

We almost always have one or more Old El Paso products on our Mexican night as well.  Check back tomorrow when we will be featuring their new Stand n’ Stuff Flour Tortillas.  We love them!!  🙂
