Here I go again with another cinnamon sugar recipe.  We recently made this and fell in love with it.  I have already made it a few times.  It takes very similar to a favorite Cinnamon Crumb Cake that we used to buy from a favorite bakery.  Yum!!!

Cinnamon Swirl Crumb Bread

Ingredients
  • 2 cups sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 3 eggs, beaten
For the Cinnamon Swirl
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
For the Crumb Topping
  • ½ cup flour
  • ¼ granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, softened
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • Powered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350.
  2. Line a 9x5x3 loaf pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a large size mixing bowl, mix together flour, sugars, baking powder and baking soda.
  4. Add the oil and mix until you see small lumps beginning to form. Next add in the sour cream, eggs and vanilla. Mix just until batter forms. Make sure you don't over mix! The batter will be lumpy.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the Cinnamon Swirl ingredients.
  6. In another small bowl, mix together the Crumble topping.
  7. Pour ⅓ of the batter into your loaf pan. Spread evenly. Sprinkle ½ of the cinnamon swirl mixture on top.
  8. Pour another ⅓ of the batter over the cinnamon swirl layer. Spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon swirl mixture over the top.
  9. Pour the remaining batter on top and spread evenly. Sprinkle the crumble topping over the top of the bread.
  10. Bake for 60-70 minutes until you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean.
  11. Lightly dust the top with powdered sugar (optional).

You guys, I seriously have the best job in the world.  I was recently contacted by Cinnabon® to try out their new Baking Kit and a couple of their recipes.  I was so excited that I couldn’t wait to see the UPS man come driving down my street. All you need to make 8 delicious cinnamon rolls are:

  • Cinnabon Baking Kit
  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
  • 1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
  • 1 large egg
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Flour for dusting

That is it!!  It is seriously so easy!  They come out fluffy and DELICIOUS!  My parents happened to stop by right after these came out of the oven. They LOVED them! I even sent them home with a couple to eat for breakfast the next morning.  By the way, these warm up FABULOUSLY the next day.  I just stuck mine in the microwave for about 20 seconds and it was perfection!  These would make the perfect breakfast (or dessert, or snack…) over the holidays.  Whether you just eat them as fluffy cinnamon rolls or turn them into french toast.

Anyway, Cinnabon has some crazy good recipes that you can make using this Cinnabon Kit.  This morning we tried the Cinnabon French Toast.  It didn’t hardly take any time at all and it was delicious!

You could make this even easier if you have a Cinnabon store near you. Just pick up some fresh Cinnabons to use in your french toast.  Yum!!

  • 2 Cinnabon Classic Rolls or 4 MiniBon Rolls
  • ⅓ cup whole milk
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
  1. Combine milk, egg and vanilla extract in pie pan.
  2. Mix well and then dip both sides of prepared Cinnabon rolls in egg wash.
  3. Heat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
  4. Melt a tablespoon of butter in a pan or spray with non-stick spray.
  5. Place one side of roll down on heated pan and cook until golden brown, flip and brown the other side of roll.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy with your favorite maple syrup.

 ** My cinnabon rolls were so fluffy, that I cut then in half horizontally to make mine.  I love that I got two generous pieces out of one roll. I also used rolls without icing.

Okay my friends, if you haven’t made any recipes off of this blog yet you HAVE to make this cinnamon sugar banana bread. Like NOW.  Go ahead.  I will be here when you get back so you can tell me how awesome it is.  Seriously. This bread is one of our absolute favorite things that we ever make.  I know the recipe by heart because I have made it so many times already.

The recipe is really easy and comes out perfect every time. We all know about my love affair with cinnamon so it’s not surprising that it’s my favorite.

Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread

  • 3 over-ripe bananas, smashed up
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • ¼ c. light brown sugar
  • ½ c. white sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • ½ c. white wheat flour
  • 1 c. bread flour
  • FOR THE SWIRL:
  • ¼ c. white sugar
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350•. Line a 9x5 loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. Mix together bananas, butter, sugar, egg, milk and vanilla.
  3. Put the baking soda and salt on top of the banana mixture.
  4. Gently stir in the flour. Do not over mix!
  5. In a small dish, mix the ¼ c. sugar and 2 tsp. cinnamon.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the loaf pan. Then sprinkle half of the sugar & cinnamon mixture all over the batter.
  7. Add the rest of the batter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon/sugar on top.
  8. Bake for 45-60 minutes. Watch carefully and don't over bake.
